Key Largo

Well so much for bragging about the warm, shorts weather. Ok so we are not freezing like most of the states but it’s been down right cold here.

Low 70’s in the day and 50’s at night. Burr…

Found a nice spot to anchor in Tarpon Basin, Key Largo. Close to a grocery store, West Marine and lots of other stores and restaurants. We have been biking fools riding up to 6 or more miles a day depending on what we wanted to do for the day.

Brian’s dad Charlie has been wintering down in Key West and he drove up and spent a day with us. Thoughtful as ever he brought presents…yea!! Diana knitted us both a very nice watch cap, thank you we love them!! Also I’m not sure if anyone remembers but Brian and I love to beach comb and in our past travels we have been lucky enough to find sea glass, mostly in Bimini, when Charlie joined us last year I sent him home with a bag full. To my surprise they mounted one of the pieces and made a beautiful necklace for me. This was such a treat because I have collected glass through out the years, kept some and given some away but my intentions has always to make something beautiful with it.

What a wonderful and thoughtful gift, it means so much to me.

We’ve enjoyed ourselves here. The dock that we pull up to is very nice and the sailors here are friendly. We are able to get fresh water at the dock and dispose of garbage. These two are always a challenge when anchoring out. The dock has a nice park and we even had a close encounter with a manatee. This was especially cool!

We had planned on leaving this morning but when we woke up it was so cold that we changed our minds. The plan is to set sail to Elliot Key in the morning, stay a day or two then head over to Biscayne bay and wait for the right time to jump off to Bimini. So in about 3 or 4 days think south winds for us and we’ll be doing good. Hope all is well in your worlds and we’ll keep in touch.

Always – Jennifer and Brian
