The Turks and Cacios a British Oversea Territory is composed of 40 islands and cays and it is BEAUTIFUL here!!
We arrived to the Turks and Cacios Islands and our first stop of course was to visit the Customs and Immigrations office. We anchored in a nice little bay called Sapodilla close to the dock seaport where we could clear in. It was a beautiful mostly protected bay but far from anything but the port office. It is a popular place for cruising boats coming to and from the islands because of customs being located so close so we got to see a few fellow cruisers. Come to think of it that has been the only place so far that we have seen any other cruisers. I think that is because it’s hard to anchor anywhere that is close to explore town. The shallows have been good to us though offering protection even in some of the strong winds that we’ve had since we’ve been here.

Conch farm. Only one of two in the world. If you’ve eaten conch that says that it is farm raised in the Turks and Cacios (like they serve in the FL keys) it must have come from here…not much to look at but interesting.
We’ve explored town a couple of days. When I say βtownβ I guess that means the touristy area sort of like the ritzy shops and restaurants strip. It’s all in the heart of what is called Grace Bay. It is the place to stay if you come to Provo. (Short for Providenciales) It’s the main resort area. The beaches here are incredibly beautiful. The water is such a baby blue that it is breathtaking. We can see why vacationers love it here!

Brian escaping into a hole for some shade…he says that that there is plenty of room for more us to join him….yea right!
The only thing that is kinda strange is that even though the water looks so blue and crystal clear, it’s not. Weird, we stood in waist deep water and could not see our feet. The sand is so powdery fine and with the surf I guess that it just stirs the water up a bit. We haven’t had the chance to snorkel any of the reefs yet so maybe it will be clearer further out from the beach.
We spent Brian’s birthday at Little Waters Cay, a small island that we’re anchored near. There were iguanas all over the place! They are brave too. They come right up to you.
The island is a popular attraction and there are lots of tourist boats that bring people to see the iguanas. I’m guessing that people feed them too because we caught the critters checking out our cooler and bags when we came back from exploring. They quickly scampered away when they saw us coming as if they were not looking for a freebie. π
We had a beautiful birthday day at the beach. Brian hung our hammock up under a big tree and we just chilled. Good Times!
Just hanging out now trying to decide what we should do next. Lucky us we found a internet connection so that we could get this posted. Hope that you all enjoyed our stories.
Until then take care everyone.
Jennifer and Brian
