Back In PCB and The Reality Of Landlubber Life

Posted by on March 23, 2015

Things have started to warm up here in good old PCB and we are back to work once again. Brian is working at the AAS marina doing everything under the sun that you can think of that you would need to do for a busy boat, jet ski and tour operation. He has a never ending list to work on to keep him busy all day long seven days a week.

Rachel has just finished up working spring break for a well known beer company that kept her busy handing out promotions to crazy college students late into the night at various hot spots on the beach. I’m sure that she is happy to be done with that! I mean who would have fun visiting local restaurants and clubs and being the center of attention while passing out free beer, t-shirts and other promotional stuff??? Oh wait…on second thought I think that she had a blast:-)

Meanwhile, I have been taking visitors to the area on dolphin tours to see the wonderful bottle-nose dolphins that play in our waters. Rachel’s taking tours out too now that she is done with her late night promotions. We’ve been staying fairly steady but it’s not that busy yet so we’re hoping that it’s the calm before the storm kind of thing. Once Easter gets here it’s going to be full throttle…we remember how crazy the summer season is here in PCB!

I know that I need to take more pictures, but here is one of my friends that I get to hang out with daily....am I lucky or what?

We found a nice two bedroom apartment to stay in but are still working on transportation or at least something that has more than two wheels…yup, we’ve been biking it (not the motorcycle kind like we had in the DR but the manual kind with peddles). Work is about 4 ½ miles away so it’s really not that bad. At least it’s not snowing here!

We’ve been lucky enough to borrow a work truck at night here and there to get groceries and run errands so that’s been a good thing. I also have to give a BIG thank you to our friend Regina who helped us get temporary furniture for our apartment (we are only here for a few months so of course we did not want to invest in furniture) and for her running us all over the place to make sure that we’ve had everything that we needed. Thank you, thank you Regina!!

So everyone keeps asking…do we miss Moon? Of course we do!! We miss Moon, the places that we visit and the fun that we get to have when we are sailing her!

What we are loving right now is long, hot showers, catching up on TV shows that we had forgotten about, the ease of getting the things that we need and seeing all of our old friends.

And the groceries here are the least expensive that we have seen in a long time…(other than the veggies in the DR…can’t beat the prices we found there on veggies but here there is more variety)

I just hope that we don’t get too soft while we are here with all of these comforts that we have access too so that we can still tough it out when we head back to the boat 🙂

That’s it for now. Take care and we miss all of our traveling buddies out there still sailing but don’t you worry we’ll be back out there before you know it and hopefully our paths will cross again and of course we will be making new friends along the way.

Jennifer, Brian and Rachel
