Boat Repair and Back to Reality

Hello, Hello!

Wow… Sorry that it’s been a while since we’ve made a post. When Rachel left I sort of got into a funk where I did not really want to do anything. Now I know how it feels Mom and Dad, when your baby girl leaves and your not sure when you will see her again. Not a happy feeling. We had so much fun when she was here and now we are back to our everyday life. Not a whole lot to share with you but I thought that we should at least get something posted and say hello.

You know how you rarely take pictures in your daily life unless something special happens? Well, the same rule applies here. We should probably warn you…over the next couple months, you’ll likely see fewer blog posts unless something really exciting is going on. Otherwise, you’d read about the same things over and over again! Don’t worry though we still have some more exploring to do while we are here in the DR and we will share all of the juicy details as they come about!

Other than regular chores (working on the boat, grocery hunting, washing laundry, cooking and cleaning, bringing water to the boat, making sure that we have enough power to make it through the day…ect…) our days are usually filled with hunting for sea glass at the local beaches, driving through the outlying villages looking for new adventures or just relaxing on the boat reading books. Brian has been working on various projects around the boat that have been keeping him busy. We found a fabric store in Puerto Plata that has a big inventory and great prices so we’ll be working on sewing projects soon too.

So….as you can see things are really exciting around here…LOL!

I’m not sure what kind of fish this is but it sway around our boat one day when Brian was making repairs. If anyone else would have seen him I’m sure that he would have ended up on their dinner plate!

The locals say that this is a slow year for them and that there are usually a lot more boats here during hurricane season. We are happy that there are not more boats here though because we are more accustomed to having anchorages pretty much to ourselves. Crowded anchorages are not our cup of tea and it would be a bummer if this one was packed out seeing how long we have to stay here.

Speaking of one reason why we don’t like crowded anchorages…Brian has just about completed the repairs from our “bumper boat” incident that happened while we were away on our last trip and even better the big boat that caused the damage moved onto a mooring ball further up in the anchorage so now we don’t have to worry about them dragging into us again. That sure helps us to sleep more soundly!

As you can see things have settled down and we are back to our daily routines since Rachel has gone back home…we sure miss her!! We’ll keep our eyes out for new adventures and be sure to take lots of pics for you all as usual.
